Bereavement Ministry

The compassion of a loving God should be experienced by all who lose a loved one to death through the concern and caring of parish members. Through the Bereavement Ministry, our parish reaches out to those who have experienced the death of a family member. To ensure that no one grieves alone a Bereavement Minister is assigned to each family. This minister is someone who listens, supports and walks with those who mourn. We try to always have two Bereavement Ministers at each funeral that takes place at St. William Church. Ministers are there to pass on the prayers of the entire parish to the grieving family. Ministers are also available to help at Mass, pass out orders of worship and help the family or funeral home should anything be needed.

The Bereavement Ministry at St. William also offers a Grief Support Group. Anyone grieving the loss of a loved one is welcome to join us. We run a session in fall and one in spring. Contact Mary Thiel, Adult & Family Ministry Associate, to register for sessions.

The Bereavement Ministry at St. William also offers evenings of enrichment and a special Mass of Remembrance each November.
