Child Faith Formation

Welcome to the Child Faith Formation page for the Catholic Community of Waukesha.

Child Faith Formation of pre-school and school-age children in grades K3-5 is offered for religious education of children to enhance what they learn at home. We seek to help children develop their faith life while learning a basic understanding of the teachings of the Catholic Church.                   2017/2018 Child Formation Class Schedule

Sacramental Preparation for Reconciliation and Eucharist for children in grades 2-5 helps prepare children who are ready to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist for the first time, usually around the age of 7 or in second grade. Catholic school and public school children celebrate the sacraments together, Reconciliation in December and Eucharist in May. All students must have completed at least one full year of religious education either in a Catholic school setting or in Christian Formation and be currently enrolled in order to begin Sacramental preparation.

Older students (grades 2 and up) who have been baptized but have not had any prior religious education are encouraged to enroll in Formation classes (or Catholic school). After one year and current enrollment in their second year, they too can begin sacramental preparations. Please contact the Child Ministry Coordinator if you have a child of this age you would like to enroll for the first time. A child of age 8 or older who has not been baptized generally prepares for the Sacraments through a process called RCIA for Children.
